Linear gradient reconstruction methods

Given a random set of points in 2d/3d and each point has a certain value of the property "Phi" , and we want to compute the gradient of such  a property at all points in order to create a vector plot, what will we do?.  Such vector plot can be used in analysis to understand the trend of values through a spacial domain. Also, these trends can be used for interpolation/extrapolation in order to compute the value of the property at any point.

Gradient computation is also required in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD for fluid flow and heat transfer simulations.
